I began my career as a freelance journalist back in the 1990s, when I somehow managed to persuade an editor on my local newspaper to let me write for them. Since then I've contributed to more than forty publications. Although I've covered a wide range of subjects, the bulk of my work is in the field of military history, where my main interest lies. From World War II aviation to Cold War espionage, guerrilla conflicts to special forces operations, my work has appeared in the magazines Military History Matters, FlyPast, Britain At War, Air Forces Monthly, Best of British and Aeroplane Monthly, as well as national UK newspapers including the Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph, Daily Express and Sunday Express.

In 2018 my first non-fiction book was published by Pen & Sword. Air War Northern Ireland examines the often overlooked but critical contribution made by Britain's air arms in the long war against terrorism during 'The Troubles'. My second book, Combat in the Stratosphere, is now available in hardback.

As for fiction, I'm the author of Rock Scorpion, a spy thriller set during the Falklands War, and have been a long-time scriptwriter for the world-famous Commando comic.
